Penne pasta, dry
1/4 cup
Extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic cloves, minced
1 large pinch
Chili pepper
1 tablespoon
Fresh Italian parsley
1 tablespoon
Fresh basil, chiffonade
1, 28 ounce can
1/2 teaspoon
Kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 cup
Parmesan cheese, grated

In a medium pot, bring 3 quarts of lightly salted water to a boil. Add penne pasta; stir occasionally. Cook pasta until al dente; about 6 to 10 minutes. Drain cooked pasta and set aside. While the pasta cooks, heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic, chili pepper, and fresh herbs and sauté for a few minutes. Do not brown the garlic. Carefully stir in Carmelina ‘e… San Marzano® Italian Chopped Tomatoes in Puree and season to taste with salt and pepper. Bring sauce to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Cook the sauce for 10 minutes. Remove sauce from heat, check flavors and toss with penne pasta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately. Buon Appetito!
